Lou de Leeuw

Lou de Leeuw Lou de Leeuw is a Chartered Accountant and Master in Business Administration with a particular interest in small to medium enterprises and the environmental aspects of accounting and gmanagement.

In 1994 Ecobusiness Consultants was established and he acts as their Chief Executive.

Lou has visited The Netherlands, Belgium, England, Scotland., Malaysia and Singapore to study and evaluate the aspects of environmental accounting, management and auditing. During that time he visited The Bodyshop, BSO/ Origin, KPMG Environmental Consulting in The Hague, The Centre for Environmental And Accounting Research at Dundee University in Scotland and the consultancy, Sustainabilty in London as well as other businesses, organisations and consultancies.

"Greening the Business - Small Business Strategies " presented at The Business and the Environment Conference in Nottingham, England September, 1994. Also, presented at the Students and Sustainability Conference , September, 1995, Flinders University, Adelaide.

" Investing in The Environment". A view of how companies were accounting for the environment in Australia and overseas, Seminar presented by Ecobusiness Consultants, October, 1995.

" Accounting for the Environment - the Micro View". Presented at "Putting a Dollar on the Environment" presented by The Environment Institute, May 1996.

" Plugging the Titanic - A look at Environmental Accounting" , 1996 National Conference of Conservation Councils and Environment Centres, July 1996.

"A Truly Civil Society - The Triple Bottom Line", 1997 National Charitable Recyclers Conference, Hahndorf, October, 1997.

Lou has also co-authored a book entitled "Working for Yourself in Australia" published by Pitmans in 1986. The second edition in 1996 includes a chapter on "green business" believed to be the first Australian small business book dealing with this issue.

Lou is also a member of the International Society for Ecological Economics, The Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a registered company auditor and holds a practising certificate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
